The miracle that is LASIK!

It's official, after Nolan has saved his graduation money and two Christmas' worth of presents we no longer have contacts or glasses present in our home. We drove to Boise Sunday, and he took the whole week off for recovery. Nolanand I went in yesterday at 1:30 pm. to get LASIK done. We were so grateful to have wonderful, beautiful, amazing Aunt RaeAnn stay home and babysit Thomas. His cornea is thinner than most so he actually had to have what is called a PRK, but it's really similar to LASIK the big difference is instead of making a flap on your eye, and then doing the surgery they scrap it off, so it is a little longer recovery time, about a week, but same outcome. It was pretty crazy to go with him. From arrival to departure we were there for an hour and ten minutes. The laser part only took 11 seconds on each eye. So crazy to see them draw lines on his actual eyeball with marker. I was fascinated by the whole process though. So he is just sleeping a lot and wearing funky protective goggles, but he feels pretty good and can see better than he could before without glasses. We really liked the place here that he did it, and can't wait for everything to be back to normal.

Wow. Were you able to find someone generous enough to babysit Thomas while you were gone? I guess not, because they probably would have at least gotten a shout out in this post!

Oh, go and change your post so I look like a crazy commenter again!

I was so excited to find out about Lasik I went directly to your blog, and lucky I did because it's still not even up on my g-reader. What the heck? So he can see better than he could before without glasses...what does that mean exactly? Is his vision perfect now? I'm so stinkin jealous!

Wow, I'd really like to get that done, but I think I might be too chicken. Do they knock him out or is he awake? I think I could do it if I were knocked out, but I heard you have to be awake for it. Scary!

So glad to hear it all went well. I hope he recovers fast. Darin and I are both envious. Someday. I'm pretty nervous about it. My eyes have to quit changing- actually I have to quit having babies!! I'm excited to talk to Nolan about it and have some hope! I hope he doesn't hurt too much! FUn FUn FUN!

Lasik is the best... I keep telling my husband it's the best thing I've done for myself... to be able to wake up and see in the middle of the night with a baby helps so much! I am so happy for you guys!

Daniel got that done a couple years ago, and wore those goggles all the time because he was so worried that we would poke his eye and ruin it. It was pretty funny! I am sure Nolan is loving the new eyes!

I can't believe that you were able to sit and watch. My dad had it done and just listening to what they did was enough to make me sick. That is so exciting for him I bet that he is thrilled! Hope recovery goes well!

Yeah! I'm so glad he got it done and that it went well! It is quite fascinating and amazing. I'm glad I didn't see it done before my lasik or I might have changed my mind. Tell Nolan congratulations! He'll love it!!!

That is great! I can't believe it only took a little over an hour for the whole procedure and seconds for each eye. Time for me to start saving my money and really looking into it. I am so done with wearing glasses.

First of all. How do you have SIXTEEN comments? This is getting crazy. I mean so are those glasses that he has to wear, but sixteen comments...including 2 from that crazy girl that just repeats everything you say.

Whatever, here's your seventeen.

Very exciting. Erich got Lasik almost a year ago and he just loves it. Isn't it so crazy how quick the surgery is. Pretty amazing how quickly your vision can change. Hope the recovery goes quick and easy.
By the way I love the v-day pic.

If you thought this was good try one of these...
