They Do EXIST...

One rainy afternoon, I looked out our window to find this. That's right DUMPSTER DIVERS! Imagine my surprise to find them actually ripping open my grocery sac full of poopy diapers looking for pop cans. They have been there a few times since, and it's a little creepy. I guess another mans garbage truly can be anothers treasure.
Sorry for those who have already seen this post. I didn't mean for it to publish on Google Reader last week! My Bad

Oh WOW. We had one at our place in SLC, which totally freaked me out because we lived in a fourplex, and he was going through our little dumpster at the side. And had a knife on him. Someone had moved out and thrown away a bunch of stuff like old dolls and what not, and he was in heaven going through it.

That's a little creepy because what if they rip into one of your sacks and find mail with personal information on it or something you threw out with identity info on it. It kind of makes you want to just leave an envelope with some cash in it just to make their day.

That's so sad. I can't imagine being that hard up to go through someone elses trash. We are so blessed!

Oh man! Thats always a little freaky to look out and see!! Never a fan!! We had some at our condo in SLC and it was always freaky when you would lift up the lid to throw something away and see one inside. Hopefully not stealing your identity.... only your pop cans!

That is scary! Makes you think twice about what you're putting in the garbage. But at the same time it makes me feel lucky for all that I have. I love the video of Grace crawling, I can't believe she's old enough for that already!

The guy who use to run the buglab where I work would always be bringing in "new" things that he was so proud of and when questioned where he got them he would proudly exclaim the dumpster. Yeah, he even went so far as to eat a piece of pizza from a pizza box in the garbage. Nasty!

Well...more evidence for shredders. We've had one in our apartment/house since 2001.....it finally broke, but they are really inexpensive....worth the cost.

So, if you shred your personal papers, mail, envelopes, etc...keep your doors locked.

But seriously, with the ability to get jobs becoming harder, we may see more dumpster diving. I don't think it is gross as much as sad....are these the "poor" we are commanded to love and serve in the Scriptures?
There are also a lot more people saving, couponing, and with Garage Sale season coming...I think there will be more/better garage sales, with much higher attedance.
For those of us who don't have to dumpster dive, we should be even more thankful (thanks to Ashley for sharing the reminder)!

I love that you got a picture of them!! One of Blades brothers visited us in our last appartment in San Diego, and when he took the trash out for us he told us that he gave it to the 'trash attendant'!! We were like, uh, we don't have a 'trash attendant'.. it was a homeless man going through the dumpster, and I agree it's weird to think of someone going through your stuff!

Yikes...what people will do for nickle. I guess be careful what you throw away.

that first pic is sooo creepy . . . it looks like they are identity thieves. That's what I thought of at first.

I remember when we lived in CA the same old lady would dig through our apartment dumpster. I felt so bad for her. It was disgusting!

If you thought this was good try one of these...
