One week down!

Well it's been a week and things have felt pretty crazy. Things are not totally unloaded or organized, but after many requests of updates, I had to take some pictures, sorry I am not the best photographer.

We got to Walla Walla on Saturday and went straight on looking for apartments. It was a challenging day because every place we'd gotten from the paper and online were complete dives. We were shocked at some of the places that were for rent for our price range. It was pretty disheartening and that night at the hotel we were all wondering what in the world we were going to do.

Sunday we went to church which really helped things. The church really is true! People were really friendly and trying to help as much as possible. We even got invited to dinner, so after church we did some more searching, and found this 2 bedroom apartment. There is a nice green area that backs our house, it's taken from a little balcony from our living room.and a pool so hopefully that will keep Thomas and I busy during the day. It's nice because he can walk in the shallow end, but still likes me holding him usually. Sunday night after dinner, about 5 guys helped Nolan move into it, and we were able to return the U-Haul on time. I don't love it, and it's hard to be in an apartment again but am so happy to be out of the hotel. We are paying about 3 times more than we did for our townhome, and in about 1/3 of the size. Crazy!
We were glad the kitchen had a lot of cabinet space. This is what you see from the entry way, it's a long room, and hard to know where to hang things. To the left, the kitchen, to the right, the bedrooms.
Monday Nolan started work! It was exciting to think of him being in a real office and job. He mostly got introduced to about 500 other co-workers. Everyone was really nice, and he's anxious to start on some projects. They'll be traveling a lot more than he thought to different parks, etc. When he got home, I was so sick of boxes and unpacking that we went swimming for a change and out to eat.
Tuesday and Wednesday I just unloaded boxes all day, Nolan got home last night and we set up the nursery (sort of). We gave Thomas the large room since, baby #2 will soon be here. It fits the bed, crib, changing table, dresser, and bookshelf and his toys, so hopefully it will be a fun place for them.Thomas has been quite unusual these days, I'm hoping his set up crib and everything will help him feel more at home. It's not like him to ever fall asleep outside of a crib or pac n' play but he was just screaming in his pacn'play so I took him out went to get his milk and came back to find this.

Today I loaded up the car with Thomas and the stroller to go to a walking path I heard was nice. Well it was along the highway, and there wasn't too much shade, so we probably won't be doing that one again. I am determined to find a good walk though. I may brave the streets and try and find the grocery store, and perhaps find a place we can go walking. And of course the never ending task of unpacking. I got our first letter today, that always makes me feel more at home. My sweet sister and best friend sent me the nicest card that read "When Life Gives you Lemons, make Lemonade," and it came with a package of lemonade. It was really sweet, and made my day. When did we get so much stuff???? Nolan actually is going on a trip to a park about an hour away in Washington. He's been doing a lot of reading up on the upcoming projects he'll be involved in so I think this will be a nice break. Anyways, sorry for the long post. Hopefully it kept your attention.

I can't believe all that you have accomplished in a few days! I love what you have done with the space--especially the "bench" area. You forgot to tell the world about you know who falling out of his you know what and bleeding from his you know where.

Can I just say I think you are amazing! I can't imagine making so many changes at once. Keep hanging in there, you'll find a good walk and the grocery store and things will get better. :) We miss you guys so much and again are so grateful you are letting us rent. A cute couple walked through a few days ago. Oh- I'm not done but Hallie is crying so more later!

I am very impressed at how put together you new place looks. Nice work! I know the feeling of going to a new place where you know no one and nothing, but you know, somehow things get better. I am just now (2 years later) getting to know a few people...but I think that is because I am home now and joining some mommy groups. I'll have to call and give you some ideas. Good luck...

I can't believe that you have pictures on the wall and everything. I am impressed. When tim and I moved here it took me a month to decided where to hang things and I still have empty places. I am sure that Thomas will love the pool -that will be a lot of fun for all of you. Keep up the good work -your amazing!

Oh man, so much to say, where do I begin...Thanks for the update. Great job getting moved. Sounds like a few stressful days, but your making it! One day soon you'll have the town figured out and things will seem normal again! You and Nolan were already pretty awesome and all these experiences and challenges will make you even more awesome. Keep it up! Seth asks about you guys and then he tells me you are on vacation. We wish it was only vacation!

Hardcore squared. Moving sucks, plainly it does especially when it seems like a downgrade, but as soon as you get used to it, you'll find nice things and then you'll probably move again...but the next one will probably be longer in the planning and exciting as crap. You're nursery looks way nice by the way.

Wow! I can't believe you have pictures on the wall. It always takes me a while to get the 'feel' of the room before I can put pictures up. I'm sooo glad you found a place. We've been praying for you. I hope Nolan likes his job. I'm sure you and Thomas will LOVE the pool! That's a fun perk. I think you guys are amazing! Such fun memories you are making. Wish you could be there this weekend, but hopefully we will see you in a couple weeks!

Wow! What an adventure. I know exactly how you guys feel. Our move out here to Nebraska was the worst day of my life. We are actually going to be in the same predicament as you in a few weeks. We are moving back to Cache Valley at the end of the month. Jaxson found that ranching just wasn't his thing, so he will be working with the Bishop again. I can't believe that we will have just barely missed seeing you guys though. Good luck with everything!

Wow, Ashley, you are so impressive!! I can't believe how fast you have unpacked and settled. I'm glad you all were finally able to find a place. I'm sure that was soooo stressful. We are so lucky to have the church and all the help that comes with it, too!! Congrats on finding a place, and hope you all are adjusting well. I'm sure Thomas will love the pool! And good luck to Nolan as he starts his new job!

What a stressful week! I'm glad you found a place and that the ward is nice and helped you move in. That would be hard not having as much space, but the pool looks fun and the "backyard" looks nice. You're like me with unpacking everything so fast. You need to take it easy missy prego!!!I like how you decorated everything. Ready for visitors yet? Just kiddn'.

The apartment is looking nice. How fun to have a pool! Big adjustments are always hard. It's nice to know there are friendly members everywhere, making new friends always helps. Good luck, and don't overwork yourself!

Ok so yes I'm reading your life story:) I sooo know how you feel just so you know. It was REALLY hard for me to move here, my WHOLE family lives in Idaho and I miss them so much it was really hard at first just getting to know people. Not a lot of LDS familys that was new for me, but I honestly love it. It is a beautiful little town we will have to explore it together! Even if I move to Dayton its only like 30 min away! I still think you should move there!!! Ok, Ok I'll see you tomorrow:)

If you thought this was good try one of these...
