Home At Last!

We introduced Thomas to Grace the day she was born. He looked at her, poked her nose, and then wasn't too interested. It's probably a good thing he pays her no mind. But he wants a lot of attention from whoever isn't holding Grace. When we lay her in his lap he usually pushes her off and is off to play with some toys. Oh well, he'll realize she's more than a doll soon enough! He was so good for the two people who watched him. Thanks so much to our friend who was over all day, and my Aunt Ginger who spent the night and morning with him. Nolan had bought him a few new toys including a set of blocks that he just loves and played with most of the time. Definitely a great idea for Baby #1 when baby #2 arrives!
We are now home from the hospital. We left around 8:30 p.m. last night, and were pretty tired. Luckily Grace was awesome last night. (I Love this picture because we caught a "gas" smirk)She only woke up at 2 am to eat, and slept until 7:30am. Don't worry, I am not expecting that every night, but it was an awesome way to start! (She's sucking her thumb here! Crazy)Thomas actually woke up more last night than she did, darn molars! She is a great eater, and sleeps a lot in the day. I guess this is normal newborn activity, I just had never experienced it. Everything seems totally opposite from Thomas at this time. I am so in love with this girl it's crazy. I think this recovery will be a little more difficult than it was with Thomas, and I have experienced more pain than I remember, but luckily I have a lot of great help. My visiting teachers each brought us a meal, and then there is Nolan. He has been amazing, and is able to take quite a bit of time off work that he has saved up. He is keeping the house so clean, and making me some yummy food. I haven't even changed a diaper since Wednesday!! So in the words of Salt N' Peppa, "What a man, what a man, what a mighty good man." We got a surprise phone call a little while ago from his mom and sister in-law Tayna who said they are on their way over here and should be getting here soon. So sweet of them, and we're excited to introduce Grace to some family! Thanks everyone for all the nice comments on the posts, Nolan and I loved reading them in the hospital, and we were so surprised with all the love and congratulations from so many.

Love those pictures! Her little toes are so cute and tiny. Glad Nolan's family is coming to help. Sorry you're feeling more sore this time. I'm not looking forward to that again. Thanks for the update and hope you get some sleep tonight! Love you.

I love getting to come home.  So glad Grace is being such a great baby, I swear #2 is much more enjoyable.  Hope you get some sleep and start to feel better every day.  I forget how hard the first few days and weeks can be.  Thank goodnes for Nolan and both your families.  I loved seeing all the pictures and getting an update.  She's so sweet.  And it sounds like Thomas is being a great big brother.

Ashley...hope you are feeling better soon. Yes, the second one is a little different and if I remember, the third is even worse!! Thanks Nolan for taking such good care of your family. It sounds like you have been such a trooper. I know Ashley appreciates it so much! See you guys tomorrow! (if that is still ok)

She is so cute and little. I loved all of the pictures. It is after 12 here and I can't sleep so I was excited when I checked the blog and found that you had updated. Yea, I guess it is a good thing maybe that Thomas isn't too interested yet. I am so happy that she slept well for you and seems to be a good baby so far. I'm sorry that you aren't feeling so well though. How fun that mom and Tayna are coming up or are there I guess. It makes me sad that I can't zoom over to see her. Nolan, you are such a good husband and dad. You guys are just such a cute family. I will talk to you soon. love you guys

What a doll. Hopefully she'll keep on being a good eater and sleeper for you! I had a BAD sleeper the first time, too, but Savanna has been a dream from day one! I wish the same for you! I think it's easier to enjoy the 2nd one because you're not trying to learn how to be parents for the first time. Not that the first one isn't enjoyable and amazing itself! Thanks for the updates!

Those are great pictures! Looks like you guys are doing really good. I love the first few days of having your new born baby, it is so much fun to just sit there and enjoy them! I hate to say this, but as someone else said, the after pains do just get worse with each baby. I thought I was going to die after my 4th, I had to get on some good pain pills for a while. Thank goodness for modern medicine!:) Another reason I am glad I didn't live in the old days! I hope you are all doing well and give that new little baby a kiss for me!

Very Beautiful. It seems that baby #1 doesn't seem to mind until he will realize that he isn't gettin much attention. GOod job on getting him a little gift.
I am most excited that Susy and Tayna are coming to see her.
Nolan I am sure he is great help!!

She is so beautiful! It sounds like us with #2.. I didn't know that a newborn could be so enjoyable. Reilly was a crier and NEVER slept.. Lilly is so peaceful and has slept through the night since 6 weeks old. They just come with their own personalities--so cool. I hope you feel better soon and enjoy lovin' on her!

Congrats! She is darling, and looks like so much fun. You'll have to give a full update on how the whole labor and delivery went. I bet it's so nice to finally get to hold her.

Sweet little Grace. I hope you get out of pain soon- that part does suck. (Pardon my french) It is really fun to have a newborn that sleeps and is peaceful, but there are a lot of hard parts too. Just hang in there, and remember it will get easier and life will start to feel normal again! I love that Thomas pays no attention to her. Jack still doesn't give two hoots about Hallie, only rarely. He will sometimes just give her a quick kiss and today he surprised me by shoving a bottle in her face when she was crying! Basically he only pays attention when she's crying and I think it's because he probably finds it loud and annoying. Who doesn't, right? Anyways, good luck. Wish we were closer so we could help!

Grace is so beautiful! Cute toes! The after pains are not fun with the second, I can't imagine what the third will be like. I'll just have to take some good meds. I'm glad you are able to relax!

You make a pretty cute baby. Maybe you guys could just make us one too and we could forget about all of that 'recovering'! Deal? I'll take that as a yes.

Ashley, she is so beautiful!! It looks like you guys are doing really well. Do you have anyone there helping you out? I'm kind of in the same shoes as you are and wondering how you did without Mom there...did you have someone else come?? I'm just wanting some advice from someone who's been through this with the same situation. I wish I could come visit you!
