Weekend Windup

To start this post I need to put a little disclaimer from my last Birthday post. I loved all the comments and compliments on my awesome cake decorating skills, but I just don't feel right if I don't tell everyone that it was actually all Nolan's artistic abilities that brought it to pass. The cake I made was for his first birthday and you can see it here, but this year it was Nolan's turn. Now don't get me wrong, I helped in unseen ways, distracting kids, making frosting colors, cleaning the mess, and coming up with the idea. But when it came down to the full execution, it was all NOLAN! So I passed the comments on to him and he was much obliged. And to those who want to know how to make the cake. Just bake a white cake mix, and let it completely cool. Then on a piece of paper trace the shape of a car and put it on top of the cooled cake, and cut it out with a very sharp knife. The frosting was just dyed with food coloring, and put on with care by Nolan, and he used a frosting tip to outline the shape of the car in white. I wish I could give more pointers on how to frost it specifically, but what can I say, the man is skilled.

Now for the weekend windup. We are here in Boise with my family and I love it here. Nolan is away on business until Friday afternoon in California, so I headed out also. I love seeing my family and being able to chill out with them all day. We brought our Wii, and Wii have been living it up! My little sister/personal nanny has been a huge help, and she is taking tons of pictures of Thomas and Grace for a photography class she is in, so I thought I would share a few.

Didn't quite catch her smiling, she doesn't hold them for too long.
Between RaeAnn, my dad, and Kimberly Thomas gets constant attention and cuddles. Aren't Aunts the best?
Just hanging out before church.
Our little Angel baby, she's still doing awesome. She loves her swing, and makes quite the happy squels throughout the day. We are blessing her Sunday, so I am excited to put her in my old blessing gown.

YA, I'm the first to comment! Looks like you are having lots of fun. Grace has grown up so much. I can't wait to see her again. I'm glad you could go to Boise while Nolan was gone. It would stink to be home alone for a week.
Can't wait to see you!

I can't wait to see pictures of her in your blessing dress. That's neat you have it for her to wear. I seriously can't believe Nolan decorated that cake. That's amazing! I'm glad you get to spend time with your family like that, I don't know what I'd do if I have to move away from mine!

I've been wanting to see that little Grace so bad. I'm glad that she's a good baby for you. Are you still blessing her in Boise or will you stay in Malta? Let us know.

I meant to comment on the cake before. Perhaps I waited so that the adulation could be directed in the right place. Tell Nolan that was a great cake! Your family is as adorable as ever. Glad you got to have some family time!

Very impressive cake. Glad you are having fun in Boise. I noticed you told a different Boise story on your blog than RB shared on hers :) Got a great laugh out of that.
