There is Beauty All Around!

That is the theme that's been on my mind this spring. First thing Friday morning we got up and walked up to the farmers market. We're actually staying in Old Town Alexandria and we love the charm of this city. It's very expensive and has beautiful homes, buildings and landscaping. We stumbled on this cobblestone road, I love it. We walked around the waterfront and went into a few little shops on King Street. There was a really cute but OVERPRICED, toy store that they could have played in for a couple hours, but we were too cheap to buy anything and we didn't want to bug the workers there too much so we left with some sad kids. After naps we drove about an hour to a great park. It was all around the Potomac River, and there were some trails along the canal and across lots of different waterfalls. I got in touch with a high school friend here and she helped wrangle the kids.
Not sure why Thomas' legs look like he's starving to death. I promise we feed him:-)

Anyway, Sunday afternoon my friend also joined us to visit the D.C. temple. It had a great visitors center the kids toured and it was perfect weather to tour the temple grounds. Don't you love her little Easter dress? She's can twirl like nobodies watching. I was surprised the temple was so tall and it felt like it was in the middle of nowhere since it is built up on such a high hill and has such an expansive landscape.

When it's not the weeekend the kids and I do about the same thing each day: Wake up, eat, walk to a GREAT park, come back to take naps, swim, then Nolan gets home and we eat dinner and do something small nearby. Our hotel does complimentary breakfast each morning and dinner Monday through Thursday so that is nice. GO MARRIOT!
Monday my brother Danny, his wife and their son came out in the morning and took us to lunch on King Street. Made the day go by fast, it was fun. No picture:-(

Next weekend is our last here.
Our "to do list" includes: Tour of the capital, historic home show, and Arlington cemetery. Are you bored of these posts yet?

How FUN! I'm wishing I was there now, because I have not been singing "there is beauty all around"--it snowed again yesterday. Yuck! I'm kind of kidding, it is still beauty, but I'm ready for SPRING! Glad you guys are having such a great time! Your kids are just darling. =)

I love that you are enjoying the outdoors there and finding kid-friendly activiites. Bryan and I were talking about what to do for our summer vacation this year and I kept feeling like we couldn't go anywhere with three little munchkins, but you've shown me that we could...:)

I can't believe it's your last week. I'm jealous you've gotten to see so much. It does look beautiful there. I'd love to go back and especially see the temple. It was closed while we were there. I love all the cute pictures of the kids (and you and my baby brother of course). Please - feed that little boy!!!! LOL!!! Parker's legs still look like that. Eventually they'll put a little meat on. Can't wait to see you guys again. It's been too long.
