Sugar and Spice

That was the theme for a baby shower I threw last Friday for my really good friend Camille. It was the first shower I'd ever thrown, and I have probably only attended 4 or 5, so I was very nervous. I know it's crazy when I say this, but I get very nervous and anxious around big groups of people when I don't know them all, it takes me a little while to warm up fully. But the shower went so well. I'm bummed I didn't get a picture with all the people there or of the guest of honor. She has a nice camera so we took more with her camera. Next party, I may just hire someone to go around taking pictures because it's something I never think about doing, but am always bummed I forget. About 40 people came and went in the 2 hour time frame, so it was a great show up. There were enough people that I knew there that I was my comfortable crazy self, and everything turned out just how I wanted it to. One thing that really made it great in my mind was this cake!! I wish I could take credit, but I just haven't got quite the talent that Marsha has.I loved it so much, and it was definitely the center of our conversations a few different times in the night. Everyone there loved seeing it, and so many hadn't had a fondant cake before. The recipe she used to make the fondant was yummy, and the inside was so delicious! She has never had a class on cake decorating, but comes up with such amazing creations. Click here if you want to check out other cakes she has made. So glad it all went well, and that it's over now, I was too stressed out about it all. Next one, if there is one, hopefully I will be able to relax more. A big thanks to everyone who helped, and my sister for helping with the decorations. I love your plate holder and she and I put the banner together.

Could have fooled me about not feeling comfortable around big groups! I remember girls camp where you were the main lead on all the silly camp songs. Awww... what good memories :)

It's easy to forget that you are different in a big group because you are the life of the party when you are comfortable! It looks like a fun party, I love the cake. I'm with Jill, I've never liked fondant frosting, so a good recipe must help.
