Why We LOVE Fall!

Who doesn't love a good change of season. I feel like by the end of summer I am so hot and tired of hot that the cool refreshing fall weather puts me in such a great mood. I do think the perfect fall days are too short lived, but we try and enjoy them when they are here. Over conference weekend we had the most perfect weather and the leaves had fallen and in between sessions Thomas and Grace had a blast playing in them with their cousins. I'm not kidding they spent 4 hours straight out there building nests, and messing up the piles.
I mowed the lawn the next day and actually left this whole part untouched so they could keep enjoying the leafs. Reminded me of the children's book Christina Katerina and the box. It's a good one.

Speaking of mowing the lawn, this little girl absolutely loves mowing. With my ever increasing stomach and the bumps of our few acres of grass it makes for a difficult job with her on my lap, but I comply otherwise I find her trying to go it alone. She also loves cats and whenever I look for her outside I look first for the cats because she can't be too far away.
The only bummer with fall is that Nolan continues to be very busy with beet harvest. He usually works 6 days a week from 7-8, just in time to help put the kids to bed, and then it seems he is needing to go do something on the house until later.  It's been a whole week since he last saw Emma. We can visit him usually during harvest, but he's been in far away fields, so hopefully next week we will get out and see him a little more.

I take full advantage of having him home each Sunday, and usually pass Emma off to him for plenty of one on one attention. Here she is swinging in a 5 gallon bucket. Things a big old pregnant lady can't do!

And of course the reliable horse in the family. These kids love their dad!
For Family Night last week I braved taking 3 kids to a straw maze. I was worried with how it would go but the kids had such a great time. There was panic when we walk into the maze and within 10 seconds I can't find either Thomas or Grace because they've taken off and gone in different directions. Thank goodness there were about 20 of us there and I was getting texts from people saying they saw on of them. It took me 30 minutes to get out of the darn thing and that was with help. Once out I found my older two kids and they had already gone in and out 3 times!!! I really need to work on my directions.
Oh the bath picture, I have been bathing them separate because I think they're too old, but a couple nights ago, I was bathing Emma while Thomas and Grace were eating. Once I got her out and diapered I told Thomas to go hop in. When I go to get her clothes, the next thing I know, all 3 kids are in the tub having a blast together. It was an hour long bath and melted my heart to hear them playing and laughing with Emma. Having three kids with one on the way has proved many chaotic moments, but I wouldn't trade them having each other for anything.

I loved reading this. It brought back such fond memories of when I was a kid and how my dad was never home but I cherished every moment he was. I love Fall too. It's such a cozy time of the year. Your experience at the corn maze sounded crazy. I would have gone crazy. I hate those things and feeling like my kids are lost.
