Well Nolan had a class Friday in Seattle, and so we decided to go with him and spend Conference weekend there. Our hotel room was so nice, it was right downtown so a little crazy.

I don't think I have ever stayed at one this nice. Thomas was loving running the halls and going up and down the escalator and of course using the pool.

This is our view from our window. It overlooked the water and huge sailboats and such.

So Friday I was left with the kids with a few things on my list. The first was to go to the Zoo.

Thomas was so obsessed with this part of little otters just swimming around, we had a huge meltdown when I couldn't stay in there any longer.

The trip went well, Thomas really enjoyed it.

I was feeling the workout with Grace in the baby carrier, and pushing Thomas in the stroller, but it was fun.

I feel like such a small town hick being there, everything is just new and crazy to me. Like a skyscraper for storage units?!? Tons of busy streets that are one way, and then they split and you can't u-turn but you end up crossing a bridge and heading on the other side of a large body of water. Yeah I thought I had my route all mapped out, but driving home was another story. The next thing on my list was head off to the closest grocery store, return a
redbox movie we rented the night before in Walla Walla and get some cookie dough, ice cream, and all the junk food out there to indulge in tonight. However, I hadn't
anticipated the closest one being a part of a skyscraper and on the third floor, and there not being a parking spot for blocks and blocks, and even then the parking was $10, so we are just going to keep the movie. I wasn't about to park, try and hold Grace while I held Thomas hand and do a little grocery shopping. What do people do here with kids? I have realized how foreign it is to so many that I have 2 kids
especially at my age. People seriously just stared wherever we went. I have serious empathy for celebrities now
ahah! So many people talk to Thomas and Grace, and tell me about their
grand kids, or their nieces, and there is never more than a couple grandchildren in a family. And the ones that are having kids are well into their 30's. I must seem so crazy to them, and to be honest sometimes I think I am a little crazy:-)
Anyways there are things needing to be done, just thought I would update with the first leg of our trip.

Oh man. It looked like fun and a little stressful which is what driving in any big city does to anyone visiting, 2 kids or not. Enjoy the stares, just like with celebrities they're just jealous. A hot mom with 2 awesome kids. What's not to like?
ahh. I remember the first time I flew into Seattle to see Paul...I was looking out the windows clapping like a trained seal. Paul asked how you were liking it, and I said the first day you were like THIS IS SO COOL! and the second day you were like I COULD NEVER LIVE HERE! Oh, and you know people weren't thinking, wow a 24 year old with two kids...they were thinking, how did someone so skinny ever give birth...TWICE? I know that is what I always think.
How fun that you got to go w/Nolan! I looove Seattle. I went there for EFY the summer before my senior year. My best friend and I stayed for a week afterwards w/her uncle in a town outside of Seattle. It definitely is a crazy, busy city. And I, too, would think the same thing as RaeAnn, skinny Mama!
We are crazy having kids so young..but they sure are fun and I'm glad you had a fun time! Sounds great! I remember the shock from switching to driving in Houston from Logan...minor difference!!!
How fun to get to stay downtown in a nice hotel. That sounds great. I think if you are going to live in a city like that you just don't live downtown. I'm glad you get to go with Nolan on some trips. how fun to go to the zoo. Thomas looks like he got a haircut. it's cute. have fun
That looks like fun! Well, the Zoo does... not trying to go to a grocery store on the 3rd level, parking far away and paying a big price. No fun! I would not be very good at living right in the city. Your hotel looks so nice!
Wow! What an awesome hotel room- I want to go somewhere like that! How fun! I would not do well in a big city, venturing out with my kids. I would definitely need help!
I couldn't do the big city thing either. It is hard enough to keep track of the kids. I would be so paranoid in a big city. Anyhow looks like the zoo was fun! Hope the rest of the trip went well!
That is great that you took the kids out in the big city by yourself. I am impressed. I love Seattle. And you hotel room looked pretty posh.
I can't believe you carried Grace in a baby carrier all over the zoo! You are wonder woman! Big cities are so different. Maybe we are a little crazy having our kids so young, but we are going to enjoy our forties and fifties when are kids are grown!
Nice digs! You are brave to take the kids by yourself to the zoo and the store - especially in a big city you've never been in before! Kudos. ;)
wow, that hotel looks really nice; how fun for your family to get away together! I seriously don't know how you do it with 2 little ones...I feel like I have my hands very full with one! The zoo looks like a good one - I had to smile that Thomas didn't want to leave the otter, that's sweet - though I'm sure the meltdown wasn't :) I'm excited for part 2!
holy moly, you are one brave mama! :) What a fun adventure. . . and I love that hotel. And I'll tell you what those crazy city people do--they hire nannies :) I can't imagine parking in a parking garage just to run into the store. Can't wait to hear what else happened!
WOW! You are so brave to take the kids out in a strange city all by yourself!! I think you are amazing to even want to attempt to do it! I can't imagine driving there. You are my hero! I thought you had a double stroller?? It's time to invest! What a wonder woman!!
That's fun you got to go with him! We all loved the zoo last summer, I can't wait til it warms up here so we can go again! You are brave to go to a new city and do all that by yourself. It's hard and scary enough doing just normal everyday things with 2 kids! And at least I don't have to put up with the "What was she thinking" stares around here. Most people have more than 2. :)
Just the thought of being in the city with two kids is making me anxious. I impressed look at you go! I bet the kids are having so much fun and what a beautiful hotel room. Can't wait to see more of your Seattle adventures!
Hey Ash-I'm not sure I have your latest email address, but we were wondering if you guys are still renting your condo and for how much. You can email me at kinsey.love@gmail.com or call me at 435-754-6894. Thanks.
Go Ashley! I am so impressed by all your travel skills with children. I need tips. Looks like a nice hotel and weekend. Hopefully your recuperating for the next round.
Wow, you weren't lying about your hotel being nice! We should've crashed your party after all :) I'm glad you were brave and did fun stuff even though I was too chicken. Maybe next time when they're older??? I'm excited for Seattle part 2 post. We're gonna be famous :)
that's fun that you guys got to the park, I can just imagine thomas having the best time. did you wish I was there to push a stroller?? haha. that hotel room is crazy nice!!
You are quite the traveler! That's great that you are able to do so many fun things with the kids. Packing kids is a great workout isn't it? These are such great memories though. That's what I always tell myself!
