Sorry to leave you hanging, I just needed to get something published. So here's our burn victim story. Early yesterday morning I woke up getting breakfast ready for the kids. I started Thomas' hot oatmeal, and got Graces banana and baby cereal. I put Thomas oatmeal aside to cool and as I was mushing up Graces banana/cereal combination I sat her in the high chair. She sort of lost her balance and put her hand in Thomas' cereal. It was probably in there for 3 seconds. I'd say it was close to boiling water temperature. So Thomas ate while I dealt with Grace, and poured cold water on her hand. 20 minutes into the water on it it started blistering all over. Her pointer and middle finger got it the worst.

You can't tell in the picture but she has blisters up and down her fingers, the biggest one popped and that scab is what is left. She has had a hard time with it obviously, but those two fingers are her sucking fingers.

Anyways, I took her to Urgent Care and 3 hours later got an antibiotic because he was scarred that her big blister might get infected. And the advice to never put ice on a burn because it could lead to frostbite. (Glad I didn't do that.) It was a rough day because I had to help a crying baby and an impatient toddler make it through the doctors wait and office visit and then the wait for the
antibiotic. She was up a lot last night, but today didn't seem too upset by it too much. Here's hoping tomorrow is even better. I am most annoyed because Thomas was about this age when he put his left hand on the pancake griddle and got a second degree burn. Can you say Horrible Mom?!? I guess I need to be more alert around breakfast time!!!
Thanks for your concern. Our townhome will need some Restoration stuff done to the carpet, and we need a new pad, but the sheetrock is okay. So I am hoping it is taken care of after many phone calls. Thanks to all our Smithfield buds for helping our renters out bailing the water! We still feel so blessed to have such great people watching out for us.
Nolan gets back tomorrow night, YEEHAW!
More catch up posts to come.

YOU poor girl!! I'm so sorry all of this happened at once. You are a trooper and a great mom. Way to hang in there. I hope Grace is feeling better. Keep your head up!!
Poor little babe! Hope she feels all better soon! That storm was the craziest thing I've ever seen/driven through-- it was scary! I just heard today that the townhomes flooded. I'm glad you guys seem to have everything taken care of! We're always here to help if you need anything, too!
Oh Ashley, that's such a helpless feeling when things like that happen. It happens SOO fast most the time. You are a good Mom, they are just sneaky little guys. Get some silvadine if you don't have any. Is she still sucking her fingers? Maybe she will quit like Thomas, all because of an accident! Were you home or at your Dad's? SOO hard to deal with and then really hard to deal with alone! I hope your townhouse turns out okay. What a pain. Susy told me about it. Helpless feeling again.
Hang in there. Your Knight in Shining armour is coming!
Oh, poor girl! That totally just happened to Jason - but it was a crock pot and his toes. I didn't know the outside of a crockpot got hot enough to burn especially after just plugging it in...well, it does. At least mine does. I felt so bad. But, those things happen, right? Your story is making me feel A LOT better about what I did to my baby. :) So, thanks. I guess Grace and Jason can be the cute blister couple! haha
OH man! You are a serious wonder-mama. Your babies are lucky to have you! I'm glad you get a break in a few days. YAY!
poor grace, poor mommy, poor brother. better days to come.
I'm so sorry!!!! You're a great mommy--stuff like that can happen to anyone!! My brother Scott grabbed the curling iron one morning and wrapped his entire hand over it. Another time he put it to his face to shave. Another time when he was just tiny my older brother dropped him in the garage. He was in the doctor's office so often my mom always said that if that pediatrician hadn't treated her 4 older ones he probably would have turned her in to social services. I don't know if that made you feel better or worse...the point is you're a great mom, and all we can do is try our hardest to keep them alive and unscathed while they seem to try their hardest to kill themselves...I'm struggling with words this morning :)
Poor girl!! You are such a trooper Ashley!! Glad that Nolan is getting home soon!
Oh, that poor girl! Don't feel bad those things happen, you can't possibly avoid everything. I know you are a great mom! I was just reading the newspaper about all the flooding there. While I'm not surprised, it sucks it flooded your townhome. I was not sure if you still owned it or not. That storm was the craziest thing I've ever seen, we live sort of up on a hill and I'm not kidding the sky was constanlty lit up by lightning and never stopped thundering all around us. We were watching the rain fly off our roof in sheets. The next morning there were little tree branches all over the road, all the way to Logan. Good luck getting it fixed. I'm glad you have people down here that are helping you out.
Oh no poor Grace! Don't feel bad, until they understand NO that's HOT or NO you will get a BOOBOO they're going to get hurt. Ada burned her little finger once when she reached up for a pan I was cooking in. It blistered and I was so sad :0( but guess what.... after that she learned what HOT meant. I also try to always use the back burners first just in case she forgets. But anytime she comes in the kitchen while I'm cooking I say " Ada out... it's HOT" and she runs out. You're the BOMB MOM.... don't feel bad. It happens to EVERYONE with kids at point. THEY'RE KIDS... they're going to get burns, bruises, broken bones, what ev. What counts is what you do after they get hurt. If you would have been like "GRACE bad girl... that's so you learn" ... then yeah your a bad mom. LOL But instead you rushed her to the DR. HELLO BEST MOM ALERT. A good mom comforts when she can't take the pain away... she makes it easier. Sounds like that's what your doing. :0)
Oh man girl you are so NOT a bad mom, things just happen.... dang it! Are you in Walla Walla? We need to get together and destress you :0D
What a horrible morning! I can just imagine the 3 hours at the hospial with two grumpy kids. Not fun! You are not a bad mom. Just today I wasn't watching Kaleb close and this cat totally came up and attacked him! He has scratches all over his legs. Bad ones. So. .. it happens and they get better. I still don't get how your townhome flooded, especially since Utah is so dry, but that really stinks! All this happenning with Nolan gone! Glad he's getting home soon! Love ya
Poor little Grace that is so sad. And I am sorry for you. You are a good mom, it is hard to keep up with one toddler I am sure adding a baby to the mix makes life extra crazy. We love you and are sorry you've had a rough week. Hope things get better soon.
That poor little girl and poor you! It of course has to all happen when your husband is out of town! I hope that everything works out! I feel your pain! Kyle has been gone for over a week and I have spent many hours at the doctor this week. Good luck!
I'm sorry I wasn't there to help you with the children! I cannot say horrible mother if I'm talking about you!!!! and I'm really sorry you're townhouse flooded...not the best of luck these last few days, huh?? SORRY!
Oh the poor thing. Unfortunately things like that happen and it doesn't matter how hard you try eventually something happens -even with burns you are still a great mom!!! Hope she gets feeling better soon!
Sorry to hear about Grace's fingers. It brings back memories of Hunter's finger incident. I remember feeling like I joined the worst mother in the world's club. But you really shouldn't. It's amazing what my kids have lived through and it's a blessing it wasn't anything worse. I hope she heals fast! And good job on getting through the urgent care and pharmacy with two little ones. That was/is one of my worst errands! And that flooding business isn't cool either. I guess things have to get better right?
I totally thought that was a bandaid not her freaking finger. Lame.
