A week ago my Grandma passed away. She was 88 years old, and was an amazing example of service, and she had such a sweet spirit.

We drove to American Fork Monday and attended a family lunch and then there was a viewing that night. We spent the night at my brothers house in Tooele that night and the next morning went to the funeral. The services went really well. There were some great musical numbers. I was happy to get the chance to sing in a couple of them. I think Grandma would have really enjoyed it. It was nice to be reminded of so many things with my Grandma, and I learned some things too. She had 15 brothers and sisters, 2 of which are still living) and was taught at a young age the value of hard work. I'm inspired to be better at providing service to others and my family. She also knew how to have fun, and my love of tv game shows, and card games comes from her. I'm grateful for her and know she is happy with her husband, my mom, and her siblings. It's sad to think all of my grandparents have passed away. I was once again made aware of how important and grateful I am for the gospel in my life and the understanding of life and death. Love you
GRANDMA!
Tomorrow also marks the anniversary of my moms passing. This month always is one of remembrance for me, and especially with my grandmas funeral I have been thinking of her more. Maybe some of you don't know my mom passed away when I was 11 from a 3 year struggle with brain cancer. It's amazing to me how much she still influences my life each day and how often I think of what she would think of my life and decisions. I feel very much that I still have a mom in my life because I am still trying to be like her and make her proud. Love you
MOM!
I should also mention that this last week I had the opportunity to attend Time Out For Women here in Boise. It is a huge conference that is held in cities all over the country each year of women who hear speakers from our church.

My sisters and mother in-law went with me. Nolan watched the kids, and it was a great girls weekend. This year the theme was
hope and it was truly an uplifting conference. I have pages of quotes and things I want to work on and remember. One minute I would be crying my eyes out, and the next laughing hysterically. The speakers were so inspirational and I cannot recommend that enough! Whether you are LDS or not, and some weren't it is a great message for us women to hear in the world today, struggling to raise and maintain good families. I love it!
I have pictures, but am in Boise, and don't have my cords or hard drive of pictures with my mom. maybe I'll edit this and post them when I get home. Goodnight.

I really like that pic of Grandma...so many special memories even from the last few years. Great to see you so much, and LOVEd going to the conference with you!
Was that scary?
What a sweet tribute to your mom and grandma. I'll be thinking of you.
Wow, what an emotional week is right! It's amazing how much you can learn from your grandparents. You look like her, I think. Except young. :) What a sweet tribute to both of them. I feel the same way about my mom. I'm sure your mom is very involved in your life and very proud of what you've done with it.
Your post made me cry. It was such a great service and I know Grandma would've loved everything that was said and the music. She was an amazing Grandma. I've been thinking about mom a lot this month, too. We have had a lot of great influences in our lives.
Sorry to hear about your Grandma, this must have been a tough week. On the bright side what a PERFECT time to get to go to the time out for women conf!!
I'm going to sign up for the conference now : ) You talked me into it. Sorry about your Grandma. I remember you were always excited to go to Utah to visit them. Was she as good at SkipBo as you?
Sorry to hear about your grandma, but it sounds like she lived a great life!! Nice little tribute to your mother, as well.
Sorry to hear about your Grandma. What a great tribute to your Grandma and Mom! I am so glad that you still feel so much influence from your mom even now, angels do live among us. What a blessing!
Oh Ashley, sorry to hear about your Grandma. Sounds like a tough week, but glad you are remembering how amazing your grandma and mom were, and I am sure it's helping you through. So happy you shared with us.
I am sorry to hear about your Grandma. I know how special Grandparents are and that connection to your mom must have been especially special to you. Glad you got to go to Time Out for Women with your sistas...how fun!
Love you and thinking of you.
I'm sorry about your grandma. It's hard to see them go no matter how old they are. She sounded like a great lady. It's neat that you are still so influenced by your mom and think of her and how she would feel about your life. I'd do the same. I'm glad that you went to the women's conference. Wish I could have been there too.
thank you Ashley for the tribute to my mom - your grandma. I wanted to do something, just couldn't yet. I'm with you, I think if she could have she would have really bragged about her funeral. I do know that Heaven probably smells like home baked bread. Love you so much and am so grateful that you came in March and had such a great time with grandma. Aunt Mae
Such a great post about your family. I'm sorry about your grandma passing away, but glad she has lots of people on the other side to greet her. That pic of her with your kids is really sweet. I'm sure your mom is so proud of you for the amazing woman/wife/mother/daughter/sister you are.
I'm sorry about your Grandma. My dad passed away when I was 16 from leukemia, so I'm sorry to hear about your mom, too. It's still difficult. I also found out a friend of mine was killed in Afghanistan a few days ago... so I'm with you on the emotional week!! I'll be praying for you!
I love the tribute to your grandma and the kind words about your mom. I'm sure your mom is so proud of all you're doing. I am, you're wonderful!
