Well it was time for our annual trip to Island Park at the beginning of March. This trip is met with mixed emotions for me each year. It's a lot of work getting 4 kids bundled up in winter clothes, and then un-bundling them and going through that process 5 times or more a day. I'm usually doing this alone since Nolan is snowmobiling most every day all day. Don't get me wrong, I'm glad he goes, and wants him to, I just don't know if it's always best for the kids and I to join.
This year however was different. It was such a perfect trip. Gary and Susy went with us and were such a huge help with watching kids, and making food. They'd also stay in the condo with the younger two napping kids so I could go out with the older two.
We played in snow caves and did a lot of sledding. Grace also lost her first tooth. She's still such a cutie!
Emma was still feeling pretty crummy, but if we took her outside she was happy. Also check out my hair cut, 11 inches lighter, and it feels so good!
One day Gary and Susy watched the kids and Nolan, Jonathan and I went on a ride to "Two Top." I'd never been, and it was a really great trip. The ride up with extremely bumpy, but once we got up there it was so worth it. I can't totally describe the feeling of driving up a steep hill with only blue sky in my sights. I felt like I was going to drive off the edge of the earth for a moment. Once we got to the top I felt like we were in a Tim Burton film. There were all sorts of cool snow creations due to wind.
It's a rare moment that Nolan and I aren't managing four kids and building a house. I was grateful for this time together. It was a much needed break! I always like watching him snowmobile. He's so Awesome!
The kids always spend a ton of time at the pool, and love it. We had James go in a couple times, and he was pretty impartial to it. But how cute is his suit from Aunt RaeAnn. We love it! Such a good trip with good memories. Until next year!
